When we land at the dock end of May, we haven’t all been there since late summer.
The guys do sled in each year but that’s more just for an adventure, to explore and plan as well as to check on the place through the winter.
So, when we step off that plane, we have to get right to work. We fly in on a turbo otter so we have loads of room for supplies.
•
First we need to get the quads dug out and operable, hook up the trailer and start loading it up. We have to haul everything up the hill to the lodge and get everything inside. Adam and Huck will then go get all the outside stuff running - power, water and communication being top priority. Dane and I start in the house, moving all the outside stuff back outside to the decks, getting our rooms set back up, putting away all the supplies we flew in. We typically leave camp very bare. Only the basic essentials are there through the winter should someone come along and need an emergency shelter.
•
It takes a few hours to get things liveable and comfortable again but we’re a good team and are always able to get it set up and out on the water before the end of the day 🎣
•
The next day, another supply run from the Turbo Otter comes and usually brings my parents. Then in a week or so, Wylee and his family will fly in, again on a full turbo otter. We stagger our two families coming in so that we have time to address any issues that arise allowing Wylee time to pick up parts or new equipment.
Then we’re all there together for 4-5 days before our first group comes in. This is when Adam and his family, as well as Hollys parents fly home and let Wylee and Terra host the first couple groups.

The last supper for every trip looks just like this:

Of course, through the week, we eat plenty of fish but come the last night, this is tradition.

People are often so surprised when they see all our sand but with over 100,000 lakes, Saskatchewan has some of the most beautiful beaches in Canada.

There are a few spots where the sandy shallows make a sharp drop off, allowing us to wade out and fly fish the deep waters or swim in the shallows.

And the stories in the sand that tell us of visitors that precede us are always cool to see!

Huck and Dane have been baiting bears with us since they were tiny.
They’re no strangers to every aspect involved.
•
We started in northern Alberta, in our pre camp days. That prep looked different. Being able to drive, quad or pack in to those bait sites made things so much easier than every thing that’s involved now.
•
Fast forward to fly in only sites. The logistics that go along with this style are so much more involved. Flying bait in for multiple sites gets quite costly.
•
Education will always be priority. Our remote location requires us to be so much more resourceful and responsible. Two very important characteristics that so often need to be taught through hands on learning.
•
As Clyde and Alma grow, they too will very much be involved and what better examples to learn from than their big cousins.

This is a line we hear often.

We are a fly in only fishing camp located in northern Saskatchewan.
We also run a few bear hunts every year, but on top of both of those services, our best selling feature truly is the adventure that goes along with all of it.

This video is of Adam and Holly’s family. This adventure starts from camp. From the lodge on Ubiquity, we hike over to Surprise Lake where we have 3 boats staged, ready and waiting. We load our gear there and make the boat ride over to the channel (where we are in this video) that leads to Carpenter Lake. We’ll often spend the day over there, but Carpenter is also the connection to Esker Lake. We’ll beach our boat on the other side of Carpenter, load up the wagon - if it’s still there….the bears have made off with them in the past - and hike up and over the hill that then reveals Esker Lake with 3 more boats waiting.

We are a family operation.
Two cousins, their wives and families.
3 boys, 1 lucky little girl…being raised exactly how we want them to be.
Outside.
Wild.
Busy.
Individual yet together.

Our off season looks very similar to our camp season. It’s full of fresh air, hiking, hunting, fishing. This is our lifestyle, the way we live. We’re exactly who we put out there for you all to see.

We love the adventure and the direction the freedom seems to take us.
•
When we’re back in Alberta, our two families live about 45 minutes away from each other. We spend a lot of time together away from camp.
•
Wylee and Adam were raised together, on and off as they were growing up. The girls came along later but became very close, especially through the growth of camp. Our kids are more like siblings than anything else. It’s always confusing to describe what we are to each other but we tend to go with ‘in laws’ for the adults and ‘cousins’ for the kids.
•
We’re thankful for this life and how we’re choosing to go through it. Having camp allows us to grow closer to all the things we deem important.
•
